stare at an object or person for 5 to 10 minutes, during this time all you are doing is analyzing and studying. then take your eye off the subject and spend 5 to 10 minutes drawing without looking back at the subject.
if you do this it will help you to take mental snapshots. even if the person has moved or is gone you will still remember everything about it.
also a lot of it has to do with building up drawings speed. the only way to do that is to practice timed poses.
also know the steps you take when you tackle a drawing. develop a method of tackling the figure. practice this method over and over, so you can basically do it in your sleep. this will make it so when you start drawing you don't have to do to much thinking. you just go.
